Capacitor Code Calculator
Understanding Capacitor Codes
Capacitor codes are used to indicate the capacitance value and sometimes the tolerance of a capacitor. The most common types of codes are:
- 3-digit code: The first two digits represent significant figures, and the third digit is the multiplier.
- 4-digit code: Similar to the 3-digit code, but with an additional significant figure.
- EIA-96 code: A letter followed by two digits, used for high-precision capacitors.
How to Use This Calculator
- Enter the capacitor code as printed on the capacitor.
- Select the appropriate code type from the dropdown menu.
- Click "Calculate" to see the decoded capacitance value.
Example Calculation
For a capacitor marked "104":
- 10 * 10^4 pF = 100,000 pF = 100 nF = 0.1 µF
