Standard Resistance Values Calculator

What are Standard Resistance Values?

Standard resistance values are predetermined resistor values that are widely manufactured and readily available. These values are organized into series, known as E-series, such as E12, E24, E48, and E96.

E-Series Explained

  • E12: 12 values per decade, ±10% tolerance
  • E24: 24 values per decade, ±5% tolerance
  • E48: 48 values per decade, ±2% tolerance
  • E96: 96 values per decade, ±1% tolerance

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter your desired resistance value in ohms (Ω)
  2. Select the E-series you want to use
  3. Click "Calculate" to find the closest standard value

Why Use Standard Values?

Using standard resistance values ensures that you can easily find and replace resistors in your electronic projects. It also helps in maintaining consistency and reliability in circuit designs.

Resistor Color Code

The color bands on a resistor represent its value and tolerance. Our calculator provides a visual representation of these color codes for the calculated standard value.
