Heat Recovery Calculator
The Formula
The formula for calculating heat recovery efficiency is:
\[Efficiency (\%) = \frac{T_{inlet} - T_{outlet}}{T_{inlet} - T_{ambient}} \times 100\]
Where:
- Tinlet: Inlet temperature (°C)
- Toutlet: Outlet temperature (°C)
- Tambient: Ambient temperature (°C)
Calculation Steps
- Subtract the outlet temperature from the inlet temperature
- Subtract the ambient temperature from the inlet temperature
- Divide the result from step 1 by the result from step 2
- Multiply by 100 to get the percentage efficiency
Example Calculation
Let's calculate the heat recovery efficiency for a system with:
- Inlet temperature: 150°C
- Outlet temperature: 50°C
- Ambient temperature: 20°C
- 150°C - 50°C = 100°C
- 150°C - 20°C = 130°C
- 100°C ÷ 130°C = 0.7692
- 0.7692 × 100 = 76.92%
Therefore, the heat recovery efficiency is 76.92%.
