Women's Body Fat Percentage Calculator
What is Body Fat Percentage?
Body fat percentage is a measure of body composition that indicates the proportion of fat tissue in your body compared to your total body mass. It's an important health indicator that can provide insights into your overall fitness and potential health risks.
The U.S. Navy Method for Body Fat Calculation (Women)
This calculator uses the U.S. Navy method to estimate body fat percentage for women. The formula is:
\[Body Fat \% = 495 / (1.29579 - 0.35004 \times \log_{10}(waist + hip - neck) + 0.22100 \times \log_{10}(height)) - 450\]
Where:
- Waist, hip, neck, and height measurements are in centimeters
- \(\log_{10}\) is the base-10 logarithm
How to Measure
- Waist: Measure horizontally around your navel (belly button) at the narrowest part of your waist.
- Hip: Measure horizontally at the widest part of your hips/buttocks.
- Neck: Measure around your neck just below the larynx (Adam's apple), keeping the tape horizontal.
- Height: Measure your height without shoes, standing straight against a wall.
